When I say, “Have you considered seeing a therapist?” I’m not saying, “You’re so messed up only a professional can help you.” What I’m saying is: Have you considered that you’re worthy of an unbiased, safe, and productive opportunity to process your experiences? Megane Shook - As a therapist, I work with you to help you identify your needs and empower you to make positive changes in your life to meet them. I understand that making the decision to seek help can be difficult, so I use an approach that is compassionate, direct, and non-judgmental to help create an environment where you feel supported in your journey.
In 2011, I began my journey working in the counseling field by helping survivors of sexual assault. I have always had a passion for helping individuals, families and couples rebuild their lives and relationships by overcoming struggles in life. I continued my calling of helping survivors of abuse by further specializing in helping survivors of trauma.
I have worked seven years with County Behavioral Health focusing on at-risk youth and adults to help them overcome trauma, mental health, substance abuse, and legal issues to move beyond their tough past and have a brighter future. Due to the proven correlation between psychiatric and physical health I strive to incorporate both into my treatment.
